I. Shopping

a) Dialogues

A tourist is looking for a grey suit. He is asking the shop assistant for help. The shop assistant finds a good suit and the tourist tries it on. The suit fits well, and its price is rather good - they sell it with a discount. The tourist is going to take it.

A tourist looks for post cards with views of the town. The shop assistant finds and shows some post cards to the tourist. The tourists also liked a souvenir. He decided to take this souvenir and 10 post cards.

- "моё" [mayo] and "Ваше" [vashe] for neuter
- "мои" [mai] and "Ваши" [vashi] for plural

IV. I'm looking for a grey suit.

In the dialogue above you have seen the following construction:

Мне нужен серый костюм.
[mnye noojin syeriy kastyoom]    

I'm looking for a grey suit.

The expression "мне нужен" which may mean "I need (something)" or "I'm looking for" (something) changes depending on the grammatical gender and the number of the following noun as follows:

- "мне нужен" [mnye noojin] for masculine
- "мне нужна" [mnye noojna] for faminine
- "мне нужно" [mnye noojna] for neuter
- "мне нужны" [mnye noojni] for plural

We remind that most Russian nouns finish in masculine with a consonant, in feminine with "-a", and in neuter with "о" or "е". In plural, most nouns finish with "-и" or "-ы".

You have already seen in our course the word "этот" (this). Depending on the grammatical gender and the number of the following noun, this word will change as follows:

- "этот" [etat] for masculine
- "эта" [eta] for faminine
- "это" [eta] for neuter
- "эти" [eti] for plural

a) Give a positive answer following the model to the questions:

Model:

Вам нужен этот костюм?
[vam noojin etat kastyoom]

Да, мне нужен этот костюм.

VI. I like it!

In the dialogue above you have seen the following construction:

I like it.

Мне он нравится.
[mnye on nravitsa]    

If you like something, you can say that using the expression:

Мне нравится ...
[mnye nravitsa]    

I like ....

If you want to say that you like several objects, you can say that using the expression:

Мне нравятся ...
[mnye nravyatsa]    

I like ... (sevral objects)
